Colombia: migratory destination

Migration Colombia calls on the Venezuelan migrant population that seeks to advance in the process of obtaining the Temporary Protection Permit (PPT) to update their data.

From February to date, the information of 19,000 Venezuelan migrants found in the database has been updated. It is recommended to validate and update the information as soon as possible.

This option applies exclusively to those migrants who availed themselves of the Temporary Protection Statute for Venezuelan Migrants (ETPV) who have already completed the Unique Registry of Venezuelan Migrants (RUMV) or the biometric registration process.

According to the general director of Colombian Migration, Fernando García, the purpose of validating the information is to "expedite the delivery of the PPT, guaranteeing that this process is completed in a single day." In this way, it seeks to resolve the delivery of PPT documents whose users have had more difficulties in obtaining it and who have requested it, even since the beginning of the process in 2021.

Migration Colombia in compliance with the norm and its functions as a migration authority recalls the obligation to meet the migration requirements for the departure from Colombia of Colombian or foreign children and adolescents holders of a Colombian type R (resident) visa or Venezuelan holders of the Permit by Temporary Protection (PPT).

In strict compliance with the provisions of Law 1098 of 2006, the director of Colombian Migration, Fernando García Manosalva, stresses the importance of presenting the following documents when leaving the country in these cases:

  • Valid and current passport.
  • Copy or photocopy of the Civil Registry of Birth.
  • Exit ticket from Colombia.
  • Visa, in case the country of destination requires it.
  • Exit permit granted by the parents or father who does not accompany the trip of the minor.

In the event that one of the parents of the minor is abroad, they may go to the nearest Colombian consulate and grant permission to leave the country before the consular authority. You can also grant an exit permit authenticated before a foreign notary. In this case, the permit must be duly apostilled and the original must be presented on the day of the trip.

If a parent is in Colombia, they can grant the exit permit duly authenticated before a notary public and this document must be presented in original on the day of the trip.

This measure only applies to those Venezuelan migrants who already have the Single Registry of Venezuelan Migrants.

Migration Colombia announced that the Venezuelan migrant population can still take advantage of the first measure of the Comprehensive Plan "You are still on time."

The immigration authority extended the validation period until March 24, the date until which the option that allows migrants to confirm their interest in continuing with the process of processing the Permit for Temporary Protection (PPT) will be enabled on its website. and validate your personal information.

It is important to remember that this measure only applies to those Venezuelan migrants who already have the Single Registry of Venezuelan Migrants (Rumv) and whose PPT has not yet been delivered.

The "You are still on time" Plan seeks to provide four options to Venezuelan migrants in the face of the difficulties they have had in obtaining the Temporary Protection Permit (PPT). The deadline dates for each of them are as follows: Valid, expires on March 24, 2023, it is the mechanism that allows confirming that the person is still interested in continuing their PPT processing process and validating their personal information; download, expires on April 30, 2023, this measure invites you to download the PPT Procedure Certificate that allows you to maintain your regular immigration status while your PPT is delivered.

The third option is to collect, which expires on April 12, 2023, it is a strategy aimed at delivering in person and expeditiously the Temporary Protection Permits that have not been claimed by their applicants; and the last one is register, which will be enabled from April 1 to 30, 2023 and is an alternative aimed at the Venezuelan migrant population that had a Special Permit to Stay.

As of 5:00 in the morning of this Saturday, October 15, all national and foreign travelers who wish to enter or leave the national territory must present their Check-Mig registration.

This measure, which was suspended for about 60 hours, comes back into force, after the scheduled maintenance was carried out by the Colombia Migration Technology area and the correct operation of the application was confirmed.

The decision has already been notified to the different airlines, in order to gradually start demanding it.
